Sarah Stephens-Ramani, LCSW
Sarah works to facilitate trust, safety and healing by developing strong, authentic relationships with her clients. Sarah draws heavily from psychodynamic and attachment theory in her work; she believes that articulating one's thoughts and feelings is a powerful process that can create profound positive change. With this in mind, Sarah fosters an authentic, collaborative environment for her clients in which they can explore some of life’s most difficult moments.
Sarah has training in a variety of trauma-informed models and incorporates elements of trauma-focused CBT, feminist relational theory, attachment theory, polyvagal theory and somatic awareness into her practice with adults. Sarah also has experience working with children and teens to address emotional, social, academic and familial concerns.
Sarah's work addresses a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, relationship stressors, family of origin issues, parenting concerns, identity formation, life transitions, adjustment issues, grief, loss, and PTSD. Sarah also utilizes expressive therapy tools to work with youth clients.
Prior to her work in private practice, Sarah worked in community mental health and college counseling settings, providing both short- and long-term therapy. Sarah has a BA from Macalester College and Masters in Social Worker from the University of Chicago. She also has specialized training in trauma from Womencare Counseling.
