Julie Shevrin, LCSW
Therapy is a unique relationship in which we can candidly confront our fears and joys; loneliness and intimacy; failures and success. Experience teaches that being a person is paradoxical and confusing. An individual has to balance out their feelings and worries with their troubled past, confusing present and uncertain future. Every person has to struggle with the inescapable questions --- why are we here? What are we here for? Where are we going? Julie is dedicated to partnering with individuals as they rebuild a stronger sense of self, a deeper connection to others and an enhanced ability to manage the challenges of daily life.
Julie specializes in depression, bipolar I and II, post divorce/separation, supporting relatives struggling with family member(s) with mental health issues, life transitions throughout adulthood, intimate partner violence and emerging adulthood challenges. She works with individuals struggling with self-esteem or a fractured sense of self. She also works with individuals who are discharging from a mental health hospitalization or an intensive outpatient program.
Julie received my MSW from Loyola University Chicago and holds a BA in Sociology and History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She works from a psychodynamic, humanistic and attachment based framework and also has knowledge of CBT and DBT approaches to therapy.
