Welcome to Treece & Associates Psychotherapy, conveniently located with offices in Chicago's River West neighborhood, the Loop, Evanston and Skokie. We offer warm, direct and engaging psychotherapy services in a private practice setting with flexible and convenient hours.

Our therapists and counselors have significant experience and expertise in working with clients who struggle with a range of emotional difficulties, including anxiety, mood disorders, identity struggles, addiction, LGBTQ and gender issues.

Manya Treece, LCSW

Manya is trained in psychodynamic, psychoanalytic psychotherapy.  Her approach is to form a relationship with each person she sees, taking special care to note any patterns in a person’s history that may be causing unnecessary pain or conflict. She takes great care to notice how the past is informing the present and to provide the insight needed to develop and maintain healthy relationships, behaviors and feelings.

Manya specializes in treating those with chronic illness, mood disorders (depression, bipolar I and II), anxiety issues and substance abuse issues.  Manya also works with clients who have been hospitalized for mental health issues and are looking for long-term therapy to nurture their ongoing recovery.

Additionally, Manya works with clients who struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder, intimate partner violence and adjustment difficulties throughout adulthood.

Manya has a B.A. from Northwestern University, an M.S.W. from New York University, and a certification in Adult Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from the Chicago Institute of Psychoanalysis.

Brandon O'Connor, LSW, CADC

Brandon is a psychotherapist and addictions counselor who received his master's in social work from the University of Chicago. He works with adults of all backgrounds to help those who want to address the stress, anger, or addictive behavior in their lives, as well as those who seek to heal from past and current traumas.

Brandon enjoys working with individuals regardless of gender, and he is dedicated to providing a safe space for men who may be skeptical of utilizing therapy as a tool for self-discovery and overall emotional wellness.  

Brandon works with individuals who wish to become healthy and fulfilled, but haven't yet found the direction or motivation to achieve those goals. He also has extensive experience working with veterans and individuals who suffer from post-traumatic stress (PTSD).

Anna

Anna Zarovsky, LSW, CADC, CCTP

Anna is a mindfulness-based psychotherapist, certified clinical trauma professional and addictions counselor. She provides individual and couples therapy to people with a variety of mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, stress management, and low self-esteem. She also works with people in LGBTQ+ and GNC/non-binary populations, alternative relationship structures, as well as those who have experienced interpersonal violence and trauma, women's/body issues and disordered eating patterns.

Anna uses a supportive and honest approach. Her focus is on empowering individuals to use their voice to direct their own narratives.  She works from the perspective that the client-therapist relationship is the stepping stone to growth and change and therefore paramount to progress. She believes in gentle challenging to move through patterns that are not serving clients anymore and provides practical skills for use in and out of the office.

Anna has a BA in Psychology from Hunter CUNY and an MSW from Loyola University Chicago. She has been trained in DBT, Gottman Level I, and holds a sexual assault certificate.

Emily Derkin, LCPC

Emily is a psychotherapist specializing in eating disorders and addiction. She has worked as a therapist for adolescents and young adults; she has also served as a manager of a sober living house.  Most recently, she served an admissions director at Timberline Knolls, a residential program for women and girls with co-occurring mental health and eating disorders.   While in this role, Emily learned how critical it is to get people the treatment that they need and deserve.

As a therapist, Emily wants to help people create a meaningful connection with the world around them.  She use compassionate, integrative, and person-focused counseling to resolve difficult issues, facilitate clarity and understanding, and promote growth and change.

No matter the issue, each person is unique and deserves a chance to explore who they are and who they want to be.

Michelle Duchin , LCSW

Michelle is a mindfulness-based clinical social worker with extensive experience working with individuals and couples struggling with grief, loss, infertility, postpartum depression, chronic/terminal illness, identity issues, academic/professional transitions and more. She received her BA from Indiana University, and her MSW from NYU. 

Having worked at one of New York City’s top-rated fertility clinics for nearly a decade, Michelle is uniquely qualified to help those considering or who have built their family through advanced reproductive technologies (IVF, donor egg, donor sperm, embryo donation, and gestational surrogacy).  Michelle also conducts psychosocial assessments for individuals and couples taking part in third-party fertility treatments.

Michelle provides a safe, non-judgmental space in which her clients can learn, grow, and overcome feelings of anxiety, stress, and helplessness. Together, you will access your unique tools and develop adaptive coping strategies to help you become your best authentic self.

Meira Katzoff, LSW

Meira received her masters degree in social work from Loyola University in Chicago and has worked extensively with adult clients suffering from anxiety, depression, addiction and bipolar disorder. Meira has also worked with families in distress and children experiencing difficulties at home and in school.

In addition to working with individuals, families and children, Meira provides couples' counseling. She is  an empathic professional who takes great care to form unique, quality relationships with each and every client.

Meira currently accepts BCBS and Cigna PPO insurance plans. She has two convenient locations in Chicago's River West neighborhood as well as Skokie.

Tessa Beukema, LCPC

Growth and change are a natural part of living, yet they can be difficult to manage. Stillness and repetition are also natural and difficult at times. Maybe you seek to feel more alive, or respond differently to the unexpected. Maybe you seek to be more still. Or maybe you just have a sense that something is not right. Therapy is a relationship that allows exploration, curiosity, and relief. Together, we will find a creative way through the obstacles you face. 

Tessa has experience working with adults of all ages, as well as older teens, in private practice, community-based, and inpatient settings. Many of her clients have successfully worked through depression, anxiety, trauma/abuse, grief/loss, and periods of low self-worth.

Tessa's style is highly integrative, and tailored to the needs of each client. She have training and previous supervision in client-centered, psycho-dynamic, CBT and DBT approaches. She is committed to acknowledging the experiences and needs of those who identify across all ethnic, gender/sexuality, or religious spectrums.

Julie Shevrin

Julie Shevrin, LCSW

Therapy is a unique relationship in which we can candidly confront our fears and joys; loneliness and intimacy; failures and success. Experience teaches that being a person is paradoxical and confusing.  An individual has to balance out their feelings and worries with their troubled past, confusing present and uncertain future. Every person has to struggle with the inescapable questions --- why are we here? What are we here for? Where are we going? Julie is dedicated to partnering with individuals as they rebuild a stronger sense of self, a deeper connection to others and an enhanced ability to manage the challenges of daily life.

Julie specializes in depression, bipolar I and II, post divorce/separation, supporting relatives struggling with family member(s) with mental health issues, life transitions throughout adulthood, intimate partner violence and emerging adulthood challenges. She works with individuals struggling with self-esteem or a fractured sense of self. She also works with individuals who are discharging from a mental health hospitalization or an intensive outpatient program.

Julie received my MSW from Loyola University Chicago and holds a BA in Sociology and History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She works from a psychodynamic, humanistic and attachment based framework and also has knowledge of CBT and DBT approaches to therapy.

Megan

Megan Salisbury,  LCSW

Megan believes that good therapy seeks to foster hope and nourish the expectation of change. She will help you navigate your journey towards hope, health, and healing.

Megan offers therapy in an affirming environment where individuals can share concerns about their current and past challenges. She works collaboratively to help you gain insight into your life, feel understood in your struggles, develop tools to create meaningful and sustainable relationships, and move towards a healthier, more balanced life.

Megan’s approach to therapy is holistic and integrative; she utilizes mindfulness, thoughtfulness, and humor with her clients. She works closely with clients to ensure that therapy is focused, safe, respectful and confidential. Clinically, Megan draws upon narrative, person-centered, and strengths-based orientations; she has knowledge of both CBT and DBT approaches.

Megan attended Loyola University Chicago and has specialized training in working with substance abuse, life transitions, grief, loss, chronic illness, disability, anxiety and depression. Megan also works with LGBTQ individuals who are coming out, exploring sexuality or transitioning genders.

Mary

Mary Carlton, LCSW

Mary is a psychotherapist who works with adults, teens and families experiencing a range of emotional struggles and relationship challenges. She received her graduate training at the University of Chicago where she focused on working with families and diverse populations.

Mary emphasizes the importance of a strong, honest relationship between the therapist and client(s). She believes that this relationship serves as the foundation for all successful therapy.

Mary is experienced in working with adults from a diverse variety of backgrounds and she has successfully helped individuals address depression, anxiety, complex trauma, medical challenges, grief and a wide range of relationship dynamics. She is bilingual and able to provide therapy in both Spanish and English
